CareVerify vs WellSky Personal Care

The straight answer

WellSky Personal Care, the product formerly called ClearCare, is the established platform in this market. It is HITRUST certified, it runs billing and payroll, it recruits and trains your caregivers, and it is used by 8 of the 10 largest home care enterprises. If you want the incumbent, it is the incumbent. CareVerify is a much smaller product for agencies running 5 to 40 caregivers, and the case for it is fit and transparency rather than capability.

What WellSky Personal Care does well

This section is longer than the one about us, which is the honest proportion. They have been doing this at scale for years and it shows in the product.

HITRUST certification, which we do not have

HITRUST CSF certification is an independent third-party audit against more than 300 controls covering information protection, access control and password management. It is expensive and slow to obtain, which is exactly what makes it meaningful. We publish what we do on our security page and we are not certified. If a payer contract or your own risk review requires HITRUST from software vendors, this row settles the comparison and nothing further down changes it.

The Family Room is better than most family portals

Families get the care calendar and shift notes, and they can pay or split a portion of the bill from inside it. That last part is the interesting one. Adult children arranging care for a parent are frequently the people actually paying, and giving them a way to settle their share without a phone call solves a real problem that most portals leave alone.

It hires and trains, not just schedules

Applicant tracking, screening, training tools and a built-in safety program. For an agency whose main constraint is finding and keeping caregivers rather than tracking the ones it has, that is a different and probably more valuable product than anything we sell.

It reaches into skilled care and back-office work

Billing and payroll live in the platform, and it connects to WellSky Home Health if you add a Medicare-certified line of business. An agency planning to grow from non-medical into skilled home health has a path here that does not involve changing systems.

A track record we cannot match

They state they have transitioned over 4,000 agencies, including 8 of the 10 largest enterprises. We are new. If you want a vendor that will unambiguously still exist in five years and has moved thousands of agencies onto its platform already, that is a reasonable thing to want and we cannot offer it yet.

The question worth asking is fit, not quality

Almost every comparison of these two products will come down to one thing, and it is not a feature. WellSky Personal Care is shaped by the agencies that use it, and those agencies are large. Eight of the ten biggest home care enterprises in the country run on it.

That is a genuine strength and it is also a genuine constraint. Software built to satisfy a two thousand caregiver franchise network carries configuration depth, role hierarchies and process options that exist because somebody at that scale needed them. A twelve caregiver agency inherits all of it.

We are not claiming that makes the product bad, because it does not, and plenty of small agencies run on it perfectly happily. We are saying it is the thing to check on a demo. Ask how long onboarding takes for an agency your size, ask what you have to configure before the first shift, and ask what the smallest agency on their books looks like.

We build for one agency size and we do not have an enterprise tier. That is a limitation when you grow past it, and an advantage until you do.

On pricing, since you will ask

WellSky does not publish prices. There is no pricing page on the site, and every path through the product pages ends at a demo request. Third-party directories quote figures ranging from a per-active-client rate to five-figure monthly enterprise numbers. That spread is not evidence that one of them is correct; it is evidence that the price genuinely depends on your situation.

We are not repeating any of those numbers. Ask them, then put the real figure into our cost calculator to see what it means at your caregiver count.

What we do instead

One agency size, one problem, and a price on the website.

CareVerify covers the loop that breaks in a small agency: knowing a caregiver arrived, knowing what next Tuesday looks like, and turning verified visits into hours you can pay people from without rebuilding them by hand. There is no recruiting module, no billing, no marketing suite and no enterprise tier waiting for you to grow into.

  • Every plan includes every feature. The only variable is how many caregivers you have
  • A check-in is never blocked. If location fails or there is no signal, the visit is captured and flagged rather than lost
  • Caregivers see their own running verified hours, which is what makes them use it rather than tolerate it
  • Payroll export covers every visit type, with unresolved visits surfaced before you export rather than dropped
  • Setup is measured in an afternoon, not a project plan

None of that is an argument against a platform. It is an argument for buying a smaller thing when a smaller thing is what the problem needs.

Which situation are you in?

Buy WellSky Personal Care if

  • A payer contract or your own risk process requires HITRUST certification from vendors
  • Recruiting and retaining caregivers is your binding constraint, not tracking visits
  • You want billing, payroll and visits in one system
  • Families paying part of the bill would solve a real problem for you
  • You are planning to add a Medicare-certified skilled line, or you are already past 40 caregivers

This is a capable, established platform. Buying it is not a mistake.

Consider CareVerify if

  • You have 5 to 40 caregivers and your problem is visits, schedules and payroll hours
  • You already bill through your state system, and payroll runs through a provider you like
  • You want to see a price and try the thing before speaking to anybody
  • You have sat through a demo of a platform where most of the screens did not apply to you
  • Your caregivers work in homes where the signal drops and you are losing records

Buy neither if

  • Your state gives you a free sponsored portal and nearly every visit runs through it. Read the HHAeXchange comparison first
  • You are Medicare-certified home health and need OASIS today. That is WellSky Home Health, a different product, and it is not us at all
  • You have four caregivers, one payer, and a process that is working

Side by side

WellSky wins 10 of these rows and we win 3. On raw capability this is not a close comparison and we are not going to dress it up as one. The three rows we take are about price transparency and fit, which matter to a small agency and matter much less to a large one.

Questions

Is WellSky Personal Care the same as ClearCare?

Yes. ClearCare was acquired by WellSky and the product is now sold as WellSky Personal Care. If you were quoted for ClearCare in the past, or you are reading older reviews, they are describing the same lineage. Some third-party directories still list it under the old name.

How much does WellSky Personal Care cost?

They do not publish it. There is no pricing page on their site at all, and every route through the product pages ends at a demo request. Third-party directories quote wildly different figures, from per-active-client rates to five-figure monthly enterprise numbers, which tells you the pricing is genuinely situational rather than that any one of those figures is right. We are not repeating numbers we cannot verify.

Is CareVerify HITRUST certified?

No. WellSky Personal Care holds HITRUST CSF certification, which is an independent third-party audit against more than 300 controls. We are not certified and we are not going to imply otherwise. We publish what we actually do on our security page. If your payer contract or your own risk process requires HITRUST from vendors, that requirement decides this comparison on its own.

Does CareVerify do payroll and billing like WellSky?

No. WellSky Personal Care covers back-office operations including billing and payroll. We export verified hours as CSV and PDF for your payroll provider, and we do not submit claims. If you want one system for visits, billing and payroll, that is a real reason to choose them.

Are they too big for a small agency?

Not necessarily, but it is worth asking. They state they have transitioned over 4,000 agencies including 8 of the 10 largest enterprises. A product shaped by that customer base tends to carry configuration depth a 12 caregiver agency will not use. That is a fit question rather than a quality question, and the honest answer is that you should see it and judge.

Are you affiliated with WellSky?

No. CareVerify is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with WellSky. WellSky, WellSky Personal Care and ClearCare are trademarks of their owner and are used here only to identify the product being discussed.

If this page pointed you at WellSky

Then it did its job. Ask for a quote, ask what onboarding looks like for an agency your size, and ask to see the Family Room, because it is the feature least likely to be replicated elsewhere.

If you recognized your agency in the middle box, the price is published and the trial is 14 days with no card.
