Comparisons, written to be useful rather than flattering
Five comparisons, 80 rows, and the alternative wins 43 of them. If one of these pages helps you decide that a different product, or no product at all, is right for your agency, it has done its job.

Before you compare anything, two questions
Most agencies land on a software comparison page having already assumed they need to buy something. Quite often that assumption is wrong, and working it out first will save you more money than picking the cheapest vendor.
Does your state already give you a free EVV system?
Many do. Where a state or managed care plan sponsors a portal, it costs you nothing and it satisfies the EVV requirement on its own. No vendor on this page is required for compliance, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling rather than explaining. Start with the free portal comparison or your state guide.
Is what you have now actually failing?
A spreadsheet is free, flexible and already understood by everyone in your office. With four caregivers and one payer it is often the right answer. The spreadsheet comparison sets out the point where that stops being true, which is usually about evidence and payroll rather than about the spreadsheet.
What you may already have
These two cost nothing. Rule them out before paying anyone.
HHAeXchange
HHAeXchange 6 · comparable 2 · CareVerify 6
The free state portal you may already have
Free where a state or payer sponsors it, and it satisfies the EVV requirement on its own.
Better for you if: Agencies whose visits nearly all run through one sponsoring payer.
Spreadsheets and paper
Spreadsheets and paper 5 · comparable 0 · CareVerify 7
What most small agencies actually use today
Free, flexible and already understood by everyone in the office.
Better for you if: Agencies with a handful of caregivers and a process that is working.
The paid platforms
All three do considerably more than we do, and none of them publishes a price. Across these three comparisons they win 32 rows and we win 9.
AxisCare
AxisCare 10 · comparable 5 · CareVerify 3
Full agency platform, quote only
Bills, submits claims and processes payments. Four tiers sized by client count, all priced on request.
Better for you if: Agencies wanting billing, family portals and marketing in one system.
WellSky Personal Care
WellSky Personal Care 10 · comparable 4 · CareVerify 3
The incumbent, formerly ClearCare
HITRUST CSF certified and used by 8 of the 10 largest home care enterprises.
Better for you if: Larger agencies, and anyone whose contracts require HITRUST from vendors.
Alora
Alora 12 · comparable 4 · CareVerify 3
All-in-one, including skilled care
Covers skilled home health, hospice and pediatric care with all-payer billing. Now sells CareTime too.
Better for you if: Agencies running skilled care, or planning to add it.
Looking for CareTime? It now sells under the Alora name. What that means for existing customers.
The pattern across all 80 rows
Reading five comparisons is a lot to ask, so here is what they add up to.
We lose on breadth, every single time
Billing and claims, payroll processing, telephony, analytics dashboards and family portals appear in every paid platform and in none of our plans. Those five things account for most of the 32 rows the platforms take. If you need any of them, the comparison is already settled and you should buy the platform.
We lose on credentials and track record
WellSky holds HITRUST CSF certification and has moved thousands of agencies onto its platform. We hold neither advantage, we say so on the page, and if your payer contract requires HITRUST from vendors then no other row matters.
We win on price transparency and scope
Not one of the three paid platforms publishes a price. Every one of them starts with a demo request or a quote form. Our price is on the pricing page, the trial takes no card and no phone call, and the product is shaped around agencies with 5 to 40 caregivers rather than around enterprises. That is a narrow set of advantages and we are not going to inflate it into a longer list.
Free beats us more often than paid software does
Look at the two free options above and you will see they take a serious share of their rows. That is not modesty, it is the actual result. A sponsored portal is free and sufficient for compliance, and a spreadsheet is free and flexible. The case for paying anyone only begins where those two stop.
How these are written
- Every claim about another product comes from that company's own published pages, not from review sites and not from what anybody told us.
- We do not publish competitor prices we cannot verify. Where a vendor quotes rather than publishes, we say so and point you at the cost calculator to model the quote you get.
- Rows we could not verify are left out rather than guessed at, even when guessing would have favored us.
- We do not repeat second-hand complaints about how a competitor performs day to day. We have not measured it.
- Every tally on this page is computed from the same rows the comparison tables show, so a summary here cannot disagree with the table it summarizes.
If we have described a competitor inaccurately, tell us and we will correct it.
If none of this was us
Then these pages worked. Take the free portal, keep the spreadsheet, or buy the platform that fits, and spend the time you saved on your caregivers instead.
If you are a non-medical agency with 5 to 40 caregivers whose problem is visits, schedules and payroll hours, the price is published and the trial is 14 days with no card.
Product names on these pages belong to their owners and are used only to identify the products being discussed. CareVerify is not affiliated with any of them, nor with any state Medicaid agency or EVV aggregator.
